The Cosmic Guitar App
Make music, not sounds.
The Cosmic Guitar, by Cosmic Studio, is the first in a new class of musical instruments built on the resonance of high-frequency electromagnetic waves. The Cosmic Guitar physically makes music, but not sounds, since our ears can’t hear the electromagnetic waves it makes. The Cosmic Guitar App uses physics to translate these electromagnetic waves into customizable musical instrument tones perfect for your music.

The App Interface
Toggle, swipe, and adjust to find your perfect tune. Go crazy with possibilities.
The app plugin modifies input music using measurements of the Cosmic Guitar, as well the physics of electromagnetic wave interactions between a coaxial cable and Cosmic Guitar, to translate Cosmic Guitar behaviors into music we can actually hear. Using the Cosmic Guitar app you can vary the physical properties of either the cable or guitar using the knobs to create new instrument tones and apply them to your music:
REAL:
Real part of the coaxial cable complex wave impedance. Knobs vary values in the equation b + m|X-Xf|n. Negative values are out of phase. Commercially available cables have a constant 50 Ohm real impedance (default). In the interface b is Constant, m is Slope, Xf is Frequency, and n is Exponent.IMAGINARY:
Imaginary part of the complex wave impedance for the coaxial cable. Knobs vary values in the equation jb + jm|X – Xf|n. Commercially available cables have a constant 0 Ohm imaginary impedance (default).PLATE:
Guitar top plate settings. Power Type and Norm Type select between different fields and normalizations. Size varies the frequency range, Proximity varies an imaginary component, and Impulse Length varies the number of samples applied to each input.BODY:
Guitar top plate settings. Power Type and Norm Type select between different fields and normalizations. Size varies the frequency range, Proximity varies an imaginary component, and Impulse Length varies the number of samples applied to each input.OUTPUT:
Plate/Body selects between plate and body models while Dry/Wet varies the strength of the plug-in in output. Force varies coaxial cable impedances to produce sounds with particular properties. The other sliders create a wet chorus/flange/delay with variable Delay Time, Modulation Frequency or Amplitude, and number of delay Copies.MODE SELECTOR:
Select the cable to modify, either the top plate, body, or keep both synchronized. Abs. Real keeps real cable impedances positive. Aperture includes a model guitar aperture impedance in the instrument model. Load/store presets.FREQUENCY SPECTRUM:
Select between different tabs to view different frequency spectrums.
